Essentials of Demonstration Videos

Product demonstration videos can help your customers or clients in using your products in a better way, or can even convince them to purchase your product after viewing the video. However, a good demonstration video has certain characteristics that set it apart from the others and make it a success. Some of the essential features of a good demonstration video include:

Script

Every video requires a catchy script that is well written and comprehensive. The first and foremost part of demo video production is to make a list of all the product features and uses that you want to highlight and then to create a script that explains each of these in detail. Remember that your script must complement the visual demonstration that is being shown in the video, and be concise so that the video is not too long; it depends on the product, but a typical demo video should be short, anywhere from a few seconds to 3 minutes is standard.

Voice-Over

Many product demonstration videos use voice-over. This is when a narrator talks over the visuals, describing what’s being shown. After we’ve collected auditions from professional voice-over actors, we usually provide the client with our top 3-5 auditions, so that they can make the final casting pick. The voice-over performance needs to be expressive, and the quality of the audio needs to be pristine so that every visual can be properly explained to the viewer.

Visuals

The most important part of the video is the demonstration itself that must be recorded in a systematic and cinematic manner. A demo video is an educational tool, so the shots of the demo need to clearly show what’s being done. Also, the demo also should be filmed in a cinematic and engaging way so the viewer stays until the end, and walks away confident they can use the product.

Sound Effects and Music

Aside from the voice-over track, a demo video will need sound effects and music. Perhaps the sound effects are created in post-production for added production value, or perhaps there was sound recorded on set. Either way, the sounds in the video should help to highlight the product, help with the overall feel of the video, or act as an educational tool. Music is important in every video, whether it’s a film, commercial, or demo video. We put a lot of effort into finding the right song for our videos because songs not only help with the pace of the edit, but they reflect the brand.

Supers and Motion-Graphics

Supers, or on screen text, are almost 100% necessary in a demo video. They help to highlight key features or instructions. Motion-Graphics may also be necessary, but that’s not always true. The concept and script will dictate if it’s needed. For some products, motion-graphics or other visual effects can show viewers things they the human eye can’t or help communicate complicated ideas using simple graphics and animations.

The finalized video should be a smooth and easy to understand process that shows the key features and usage options of your product. Demonstration videos can be very effective in selling your products and can be of great assistance to your customers when they are in need of proper guidance with regard to the features of your products. Additionally, demonstration videos attract reviews and comments, leading to more credibility and promotion for your business.

Video Production Mistakes to Avoid

Promotional videos allow corporations to market their business and products in a better way. However, not every video is a success; often times a company decides to produce their own videos, making many mistakes that could have been avoided if the services of industry professionals were employed, but there are other reasons too.

We watch a lot of corporate videos, a lot! We see great ones, OK ones, and yes, bad ones. If you are trying to create a corporate video for your business, here are some common mistakes to avoid to help ensure you’re video is one of the great ones:

Lengthy Videos

People have busy lives and cannot spare the time to watch lengthy videos. If you want to make the most of your video, keep it short and simple. Make the most of your time within the video and highlight only the most important messages, rather than opting for a long and detailed video. Your video production company can help you with this when they craft your script.

Not Branding Your Video

Marketing videos are created to bring additional clientele to your business. Thus, you need to properly brand your video and add your company’s name, logo, and other contact details to guarantee that the viewers will come to you. Additionally, the video company producing your video can create branded motion-graphics and supers (text graphics) to further brand the video.

Poor Quality

If you are making the effort to create a corporate video for your business, it should be of the highest production quality so that it can convince your potential customers to opt for your products. You may think you can’t afford quality video, but you can. It’s an investment in your companies future, and if done right, will bring in new business and stand the test of time. Always think of quality video as one of your company’s most important investments.

Copyright Issues

Most of the music and pictures you find online are under copyrights. Using them without permissions can lead your business into serious legal issues where you can be sued for using licensed media without permission. Always find images and sounds that are free from licenses or purchase the copyrights before using them for your video production. Also, you need to make sure all talent in the video (actors, employees, voice-over narrators – any voice or person featured in the video) signs a release so that you have permission to use their voice and likeness.

Forgetting Your Audience

Every business has its particular target market and if you do not keep your targeted audience in mind while creating your video, you may not attract the right people, resulting in a failed marketing strategy. While in the concept stage, it’s important to consider your target audience: what do they know about you or your products, what don’t they, what questions might they have, etc. Again, the video production company you’re working with can help you here.

Call to Action

Every video has a goal. Almost always, one of the goals is to get viewers to contact you after viewing the video. That may mean calling the business line, or visiting the site or store. You want them to act, so remember to add a call to action into your video!

These are some of the most common mistakes that you need to address in order to attain a successfully produced video. At 336, we’re a video production company that takes great care to avoid all these mistakes, so that all the videos we produce fall into the “great” category!

Increase Your Online Social Media Presence with Videos About Your Business

According to a survey conducted by Social Media Today, 700 YouTube video links are shared on Twitter every minute, and 500 years worth of YouTube videos are watched on Facebook each day. These stats only point out to one thing – businesses can get much more from their social media marketing campaigns if they tap the power of video.

Here are ways how your business can use video to increase its social media presence:

Introduce Your Product

Customers love to browse products, so make it more fun for them! Make a 6 second Vine of the different colors or designs of your product, or a 2 minute explainer video for your website or YouTube channel. It is more informative and interesting to see how things work rather than read the instructions.

Show the Process

Showing customers how your product is made is an effective engagement tool. Take shots of different production levels, merge them into a looping video, and post on all relevant social media platforms. Customers will definitely love the effort you put into it.

Meet the Team

Create a relationship with your customers by introducing the team to them. You could use Vine to let your customers know your key members by giving them each 6 seconds to talk about what they love about the brand or why someone should try your product. Hearing a tag-line from an “insider” will be more effective than reading it on an ad.

Behind the Scenes and Corporate Culture Videos

Just as people are interested in knowing what goes in to making a product, they are keen on getting a sneak peak of the office and how the team at a company works. You can show off your office for customers to view where the “magic” happens. You can also incorporate interviews from the team into these videos to talk about your company’s mission and goals. These types of videos are often called corporate culture videos.

Case Study Videos

Case study videos are an effective way of sharing your products or services through a different perspective – your client’s. If you have a long-lasting relationship with a client or a customer who always provides positive feedback, consider asking them to be in a case study video where they talk about how they use your product or service, and what they like about it.

Factors to Consider When Hiring a Video Production Company

Video is now an essential marketing tool that can reach a world-wide audience, educate viewers, compel them to act, and generate a sizeable return on investment. It’s also a powerful reflection of your brand. But before you hire a video production company to create a sales, training, explainer, or educational video for your business there are several factors you need to consider.

Previous Work Quality

This is one of the first things you ought to consider. Ask the video production company for samples of their previous work – a reputable company will not hesitate to share samples. Ask to see samples of the types of videos you have in mind for your business. If they don’t have samples of similar work, you can ask the company whether they are equipped to incorporate the ideas you have for your business into a video.

Name Recognition

Name recognition generally refers to the number of people aware of a brand or company. Who best to ask about a video company than their previous clients? They can speak to the video company’s customer service and success of the video they produced. Before choosing a video production company, you must check its recommendations, ratings, reviews, and testimonials. These will reflect how well the company has served its previous clients.

Experience

A quality finished product naturally stems from the talent and skill of the production team. Find out who will really be working on your next video production project. Make sure that the company puts talented, experienced people not only in front of the camera but also behind the camera. People like an experienced director, sound mixer, and cinematographer, as well as experts in scriptwriting and editing. If possible, check the team’s portfolios to see if they are well-suited for the type of video you want. You might also consider the number of years the video company has been in business. A company who has been provided consistent, award-winning video services for years may be a better choice than a company who is new and has yet to prove themselves.

Type of Equipment Used

Almost anyone with a camera can claim to record great videos. Cameras, video editing software, and other video production tools are more affordable and easily available today than ever before. A well-established and experienced company will not only have a range of modern equipment for different types of mediums (e.g. TV, web), but its team will also be able to explain the difference between them.

Budgeting

Video production can be expensive, and your business will have to stay in budget while aiming for best quality. It is important that you convey your budget limitations to the video production company – if they are keen about good customer service they will come up with a plan to make the most out of your budget.

Corporate Video Production and Its Benefits in Today’s Business World

Businesses need video. Every new statistic on corporate video, especially corporate video on the web, proves that. Businesses need video to communicate to consumers, sway the masses, improve their SEO and SMO, strengthen their brand, educate their employees, peak the interest of investors – just to name a few. Corporate video production has become a necessary tool for all businesses in the modern world. Studies show that people would rather watch a video than read copy with the same message. Having said all that, how does a corporation or brand make a high-quality, effective video, and how do they use it?

Video Production

First, a company needs to find the right video production company to produce their videos. The video production company team will guide the company through the process, and ensure the video meets their goals. Nowadays, there’s a corporate video production company in nearly every major city. These production companies specialize in producing videos for businesses. Many companies are surprised by the cost of video production, but they need to look at video production as an investment. Professional videos should help to grow and strengthen a business. To find a video production company in your area, it’s a good idea to turn to the Internet and search for local “video companies” or “corporate video.” Read about the companies and watch their sample videos. Once you narrow the list down to 2-3 companies, set-up a phone call or in-person meeting with them, and follow-up with the video company’s references.

Benefits of Video

Getting On Top Of Market Demands

While your business website increases your exposure to your target market, integrating it with the right tools can increase sales rates. In the past, sales letters were used to convince consumers to buy products. This has changed considerably over the years. The buying habits and trends of people are changing constantly; they have shorter attention spans now and want to get as much information as they can in as little time as possible. This makes corporate video production very useful as it helps convey your message quickly and effectively.

Stand Out From Your Competition

Does your competition use video? If not, video will give you the edge. If they do, make a better video. To help gain advantage over your competition, you could produce several, shorter videos (around 30 seconds) about your services or products. This will also help improve your brand image as you strive to compete with rivals. While creating such short videos, it is essential that you answer the needs of your target audience. In addition, this strategy, will help generate more traffic to your website.

Staying Modern

If you want your business to succeed, you need to stay current. Use the latest marketing techniques to ensure that a substantial amount of people visit your website. If you stick to the older, conventional methods, you will most likely lose your clients to a competitor. Professional, cinematic, impactful video will keep your site fresh. According to BizJournals.com “Time spent watching video ads totaled 9.2 billion minutes, comScore reports, with this type of advertising reaching 56 percent of the total U.S. population an average of 141 times during the month.” That statistic shows the importance of marketing through online videos.

Using Professional Video Services

While it is possible for you to produce corporate videos yourself, video production is a science and an art. You need a team who understands the craft, knows how to translate your business needs to the screen, and can create a beautiful end product you can be proud of. With the popularity of video, viewers can tell if something been shot by an amateur versus a professional. Additionally, if you allow video experts to create your videos, you will benefit from their creativity and experience, and you can relax knowing your video is in the right hands.

3 Ways to Make Sure You Make an Effective Corporate Video

This may sound crazy, but in some ways producing a corporate video can be more challenging than producing a full length movie. Studio produced feature length movies have millions of dollars, seemingly unlimited resources, at least 90 minutes to tell a story, and months and months to complete a film. Corporate video companies have very strict budgets, small production crews, minutes (sometimes seconds) to tell a story, and are often faced with quick turnarounds to complete videos. It can seem daunting task to the company seeking to have video made, but to a company like 336 Productions, it’s what they do best

If you’re considering business video, here are three tips to help make it the best video it can be:

Keep it Short and Simple

When making a corporate video, always remember that less is more. Avoid presenting any clutter or irrelevant information. This can sometimes prove to be a little difficult to accomplish, as there are some people in organizations who insist on including every detail about the company. Trust the script writer when they make suggestions on what can be cut. It’s their job to make sure the script it tight and messaging clear. Another reason to keep the video short is that you don’t you’re your viewers to stop watching before the video ends because it’s too long. The producer can recommend the best duration for your video based on your audience and needs.

Structure Matters

Proper structure will not only give your video a certain degree of order, it will help convey your message better. Have a crystal clear beginning, middle, and ending. Make sure you provide enough transition points between all three. If you begin your video with a narration, perhaps move it forward with a dialogue. Maybe you can use testimonials to end the video. Again, your script-writer and producer will help provide structure to your video.

Style

In the case of a corporate video, it really helps to know who your target audience is. Nobody wants to watch a dry video, presenting facts and figures regarding the industry or the company. But then again, the audience may not like a slapstick parody of their company. When 336 Productions begins a project they decide on a style, but to get to that style they need to learn about their client’s brand, culture, and audience.

Creating An Educational Video Series For New Cancer Institute

Producing A 7 Video Series For Saddleback Memorial

A very special project is underway in Laguna Hills. Saddleback Memorial Medical Center is currently in construction on their new Cancer Institute. This Institute will deliver the most advanced cancer care to their patients in an all-new, comfortable, and convenient environment. We’ve created several video projects for the hospital in the past: two Proud Moments videos, which are “year-in-review” videos, a movie theater promo, and a 25th Anniversary video for their Women’s Hospital. Each experience has been a great one, yielding successful videos. Now, we’re creating a 7 video series following the construction of the Cancer Institute. The goal of these videos is to educate the South Orange County community about the new Institute. The first two episodes are already up on Saddleback Memorial’s YouTube channel. We’re in post-production on Episode 3 now, with the 4th episode to be filmed soon. The Institute will open in the Spring of 2014.

336 Takes To The Skies: Now Offering Aerial Video

First things first, aerial shots are cool. Everyone loves an epic aerial shot as much as they love a hypnotizing time-lapse. We’ve been creating time-lapses for our clients for years now, but we haven’t been able to offer aerial shots…until now! We recently purchased a DJI Phantom Quadcopter so that we could offer amazing aerial footage. We’ve already used the drone on 3 project this year, and we anticipate using it a whole lot more. Our clients are impressed with the quality of the footage and the altitude the drone can reach.

There’s no additional cost for aerial shots. The Phantom Quadcopter comes is part of our production kit, so if the client needs an aerial shot in their corporate video, it’s as easy as liftoff!

New Year, New Videos

We had 22 video projects, consisting of 166 videos, we won 3 corporate video awards, and celebrated our 5th year in business. We worked with start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. We had clients with headquarters in Finland (SAP) and Japan (Lustroware), and in Irvine, CA (Neudesic) and Laguna Hills (Saddleback Memorial Medical Center). We also started our first government job in 2013 – an 11 video series for Corona’s Department of Water and Power.

We produced everything from an explainer / marketing video for a new app launching Summer 2014 to an orientation video for one of the largest owners and operators of apartment communities in the United States, Aimco. Since we started our business in 2008, we’ve been growing, but one thing remains the same…we provide the most entertaining, quality corporate video while delivering the best customer service. We’re looking forward to another great year of growth, new clients, and lots and lots of video!

2013 So Far

I don’t know who said 13 was an unlucky number. For 336, it’s been lucky. We kicked it off by winning our first government job. It’s top secret right now, so while we can’t give details, we can tell you that it’s been such a fun and exciting experience. We’re currently in pre-production on it, and will go into production later this summer.

We also produced RxPrep’s educational video series. RxPrep creates online and live prep courses for the NAPLEX® Board Review and CPJE Review, and delivers them to the top pharmacy schools, leading pharmacy chains, and students all over the country. There were over 20 videos in the project. We filmed the videos in December, and delivered them in late January.

Another noteworthy project we completed was for Aimco, one of the largest apartment home builders and managers. We produced an orientation video for them that they show new residents when they move into an Aimco community. The video breaks down all of the communities rules and regulations. We created 9 versions of the orientation video to reflect the differences in the rules and regulations of their communities across the country.

The featured picture is from a web and marketing video we just wrapped production on last week. The project is for a new app that will be launching soon. We’re currently in post-production, and are very excited to share the finished product with you when it’s done.

So far, we’ve completed 20+ project this year – some of which were solely motion-graphics, some live-action, and some, a blend of both. The projects we’ve worked on this year have included brand videos, explainers, trade show videos, sales and marketing videos, orientation videos, educational videos, and tutorial videos. We’ve worked with past clients and lots of new ones.

So keep it up 2013 – you might end up being our favorite so far.
