New Year, New Videos

We had 22 video projects, consisting of 166 videos, we won 3 corporate video awards, and celebrated our 5th year in business. We worked with start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. We had clients with headquarters in Finland (SAP) and Japan (Lustroware), and in Irvine, CA (Neudesic) and Laguna Hills (Saddleback Memorial Medical Center). We also started our first government job in 2013 – an 11 video series for Corona’s Department of Water and Power.

We produced everything from an explainer / marketing video for a new app launching Summer 2014 to an orientation video for one of the largest owners and operators of apartment communities in the United States, Aimco. Since we started our business in 2008, we’ve been growing, but one thing remains the same…we provide the most entertaining, quality corporate video while delivering the best customer service. We’re looking forward to another great year of growth, new clients, and lots and lots of video!

2013 So Far

I don’t know who said 13 was an unlucky number. For 336, it’s been lucky. We kicked it off by winning our first government job. It’s top secret right now, so while we can’t give details, we can tell you that it’s been such a fun and exciting experience. We’re currently in pre-production on it, and will go into production later this summer.

We also produced RxPrep’s educational video series. RxPrep creates online and live prep courses for the NAPLEX® Board Review and CPJE Review, and delivers them to the top pharmacy schools, leading pharmacy chains, and students all over the country. There were over 20 videos in the project. We filmed the videos in December, and delivered them in late January.

Another noteworthy project we completed was for Aimco, one of the largest apartment home builders and managers. We produced an orientation video for them that they show new residents when they move into an Aimco community. The video breaks down all of the communities rules and regulations. We created 9 versions of the orientation video to reflect the differences in the rules and regulations of their communities across the country.

The featured picture is from a web and marketing video we just wrapped production on last week. The project is for a new app that will be launching soon. We’re currently in post-production, and are very excited to share the finished product with you when it’s done.

So far, we’ve completed 20+ project this year – some of which were solely motion-graphics, some live-action, and some, a blend of both. The projects we’ve worked on this year have included brand videos, explainers, trade show videos, sales and marketing videos, orientation videos, educational videos, and tutorial videos. We’ve worked with past clients and lots of new ones.

So keep it up 2013 – you might end up being our favorite so far.

336 Produces a Video for Sydnee – A Smart Recharge Station

[image small=”https://336productions.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/IMG_0863.jpg” align=”left” width=”300″ height=”224″ type=”image” skin=”on”]You could call us “tech enthusiasts” here at 336 Productions, so we’re always excited to work on projects that highlight innovations in the digital space. That’s why we were thrilled when Kanex approached us to work on a product video to help showcase their product, Sydnee, a docking station that allows a user to charge up to four iPads or iOS devices at once. With an eye-catching design that Steve Jobs would be proud of, the Sydnee is a perfect example of functional design at its finest. We love the Syndee, so much so that we use them in our office to efficiently charge our iPads and iPhones. [image small=”https://336productions.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/IMG_0837.jpg” align=”right” width=”300″ height=”224″ type=”image” skin=”on”]

As a video production company, we’re always thinking about the future of digital media as it applies to “four screens” – the TV, tablet, computer, and smartphone. Our company strives to develop digital video content such as brand videos, corporate productions and promotional videos that are accessible over all devices. Kanex uses the video we created for them on all four screens: at trade shows on TV screens, on their iPads for sales presentations, on their smartphones in case there is ever an opportunity where they needed to play it for a potential customer, and of course on their website and YouTube channel.

We worked on this project from concept to completion. We pitched Kanex a few concepts based on their needs and goals for the video. Once they approved one of the concepts, we went right into pre-production: writing the script, casting the project, scouting and locking locations, tech scouting, planning and preparing for production.[image small=”https://336productions.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/IMG_0844.jpg” align=”left” width=”300″ height=”224″ type=”image” skin=”on”]

We opted to shoot on the RED camera for this project. We shot the video over the course of three days at a private residence in Anaheim, a retail shop in Costa Mesa, and a school in Fullerton.

All post-production services were done in-house.

Kanex uses the video as a sales and marketing tool to help showcase and sell the Sydnee. This project showcases not only our love for digital innovation, but also the emergence of digital video as part of the technological revolution.

You can watch the video and learn more about Kanex and Sydnee here.

336 Productions to Celebrate 5 Years in Business in April with a Video Contest

Summary: An industry leader in corporate video production, who has reached a new milestone in the number of years in business, plans to reward one lucky business with a top-of-the-line video production that would normally cost thousands of dollars to produce.

Costa Mesa, California, April 8, 2013 – According to a recent study done by Inc. Magazine and the National Business Incubator Association, 80 percent of new businesses fail within the first five years, but the 336 Productions team is high-fiving the achievement of being in the 20% of businesses who succeed. To celebrate this milestone, one lucky business in Orange County will be rewarded with a concept to completion corporate video this fall. “We realize that many businesses don’t make it to five years, so we’re excited to be able to celebrate five years in business this April,” said Marlowe Stone, co-owner and co-founder of 336 Productions, a full service video production company specializing in corporate video. “To commemorate the event, this fall, we’ll be holding our first ever Video for a Video Contest. Basically, we’ll be asking Orange County businesses for a 30 second video, shot with their smartphones or video cameras telling us why they want a video, and we’ll pick one of those companies to make a video that’s valued at $10,000.” Stone explained that one of 336 Productions missions is to help other businesses reach their business goals through video, especially video for their websites and/or web use. She added that the Video for a Video contest is the company’s way of sponsoring a fun event while blessing one Orange County business with a full scale professional video production at no cost to the contest winner. “Videos are an essential part of business marketing strategies now, and we know how important our services are to our clients” Stone pointed out. “With five years in business, we now have a track record of success and five years worth of award winning videos, and happy clients. This contest is our way of celebrating that, and hopefully getting the attention of businesses who haven’t heard of us.”According to a recent study conducted by NDP Group, an industry leader in consumer research, statistics, and trends, 85 percent of consumers who visit a business’ website are more likely to buy after watching a video. In addition, videos are shared 12 times more often than text via social media outlets, such as Facebook. The study went on to note that the average time spent on a website that does not have a video is 53 seconds. However, the average time spent on a website that does have a video is six minutes. “The types of corporate videos we produce are B2B videos, brand videos, case studies, commercials, internal videos, marketing videos, training videos, educational videos, legal videos, product demos, promos, trade show videos, and viral videos,” Stone said about her company’s services that’s geared toward medium and large size businesses in Orange County, Riverside, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Stone emphasized that the videos 336 Productions produces can be live-action, motion-graphics, or a combination. “Our video services include concept development, script writing, location scouting, product management, production document creation and management, budgeting, storyboarding, directing, producing, filming, editing, color grading, visual effects, audio mixing, sound design, motion graphics, 2D and 3D animation, keying and compositing, and DVD authoring,” said Stone. Tony Fassette, Global Vice President of SAP Business Communications Management, described working with 336 Productions as smooth from the beginning to the end. “I came to 336 Productions with a desire to produce web promos for one of our products. It was critical that they understood our message and successfully translated it into a branded, effective video. Not only did they do that, but they brought their creativity to the scripting process, taking our ideas to the next level. The videos have made a major impact both internally and outside the company. I would recommend 336 Productions to anyone looking for professional, high quality video services.”For more information, please visit: www.336productions.com

Some More Awards

We hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for so many things: great clients, lots of work, family, friends, health, and…our new awards!

We recently won a 2012 Davey Award and 2, 2012 Pixie Awards. The Davey was a Gold in the category of Online Film/Video. It was in recognition of the marketing video we produced for Kanex titled “Meet Sydnee.” The Pixies were a Gold and Platinum in the Motion Graphics category. The Gold was for a trade show video we produced for a marketing company, and the Platinum was for a brand video we produced for an entertainment company.

The Davey Awards exclusively honor the “Davids” of creativity, the finest small firms, agencies and companies in the world. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock – the sort of thing small firms do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the “Creative Davids” who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than big budgets. The Davey Awards is the leading awards competition specifically for smaller firms, where firms compete with their peers to win the recognition they deserve. Please visit www.daveyawards.com for more information.

The Davey Awards is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms. Please visit www.iavisarts.org for a full member list and more information.

“This year’s winners truly represent a smart, nimble approach to creativity and embody the quick thinking, resourceful nature that make small agencies so unique” noted Linda Day, Executive Director of the IAVA. She added, “On behalf of the entire International Academy of Visual Arts, I want to thank this year’s Davey Awards entrants and winners for sharing their amazing capabilities and talents, allowing us to once again highlight the best small firms worldwide.”

And we say, “Thank you Linda!”

The Pixie Awards honors outstanding work in the areas of Motion Graphics, Effects, and Animation. Judging is done by professionals who have excelled in the moving pixel fields of animation, motion graphics and effects.

Lloyd Record, Digital Media Services at Lockheed Martin Space Systems says, “The American Pixel Academy Pixie Award sets a high standard in quality and innovation for animation and other motion graphic arts.” For more information on the Pixie Awards visit http://www.pixieawards.com/.

This is our 4th Pixie Award, and first Davey Award.

Being recognized for our work never gets old. It’s always something to celebrate and be thankful for!

Like Us on Facebook for Photographs, Updates, and More

As you know, we’re always hard at work to bring our clients the most innovative and compelling videos. If you’re curious to find out what goes on behind the scenes of one of our shoots, be sure to “like” our Facebook page to see photographs and get updates from set.

Sometimes, a simple status update doesn’t tell the whole story about the team that works around the clock to execute a superior video project. From start to finish, there’s lots of moving pieces on any video project. We try to capture pictures of that process, especially during production. Video is our passion, but digital photography and video go hand-in-hand. Production Assistants capture most of the pictures on set, but there’s usually a few taken by other crew with their iPhones in between takes.

Part of our philosophy is to produce collaborative, superior, creative work, while having fun. Our pictures reflect that philosophy, and offer a glimpse into the exciting and ever-evolving world of video production. Occasionally, we’ll shoot a time lapse video during production, such as this video of us setting up the first shot on a marketing video we produced for a technology company. This approach offers another unique way to let our fans and interested parties see how we work.

336 Productions’ Street Cred Rises

When Bad Juju Games approached and asked us to film spray paint artists Sket One and Nick Sawyers paint a bus to promote the new Tekken Tag Tournament 2 video game, we jumped at the chance!  Our job was to document Sket One and Nick spray paint the bus, and edit the footage into a video that would be played at E3 2012.  This plan was hatched by Bad Juju Games as a way to announce Snoop Dogg’s involvement in the video game.  The game’s developer and publisher, Namco Bandai Games, would make the big announcement at E3, with Snoop pulling up to the conferencein this bus.  Our video played during Namco’s presentation at E3.

We filmed at a secret location since Snoop Dogg’s involvement in the game wasn’t going to be shared until E3, but it didn’t stop passers-by from pulling over in their cars and snapping pics.  Watching a good, old-fashioned street art session with Sket One and Nick was amazing.  They spray painted non-stop for three whole days under the intense sun.  Their mastery of the art was something to behold.  Fun fact: the bus was originally an American Idol tour bus, with American Idol graphics covering the whole thing.

Sket One is a well-known illustrator, painter, and designer, who has worked on campaigns for Ford, EMI and numerous other companies.  Nick Sawyers is a longtime artist as well, and currently holds the title of Senior 2D Art Director at Bad Juju Games.

Bad Juju Games is a Southern California based entertainment media company that focuses on mobile, console and portable game development.  They are one seriously cool group of artists and developers who are at the forefront of mobile gaming technology.  You can see their talent in the video – they created all the cool animations featured throughout it.

[image small=”https://336productions.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/snoop-with-bus.jpg” big=”https://336productions.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/snoop-with-bus.jpg” align=”right” width=”300″ height=”300″ type=”image” skin=”on”]
Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which came out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 11, 2012, features Snoop Dogg in all his glory, with new music from the hip hop legend, as well as a special bonus Snoop Dogg level.

I know what you’re thinking, “did they get to meet Snoop?”  Sadly, no, but we’re not giving up hope that someday it will happen.

Working with the team at Bad Juju was a blast, and we plan to continue to collaborate with them on future video production projects.  Stay tuned for more updates on where and when we’ll be exploring new terrain with the Bad Juju team.

Upcoming Projects: The Golden Foodie Awards

336 Productions is thrilled to announce that we have been selected to produce several videos for the Golden Foodie Awards. Known in the culinary world as “The Golden Globe of food awards,” the Southern California awards ceremony recognizes the finest dining establishments in the region, and will be attended by notable food bloggers, top OC chefs and restaurateurs, and culinary experts.

GodenFoodieAwards.com says, “The Golden Foodie Awards is the first-ever glamorous red carpet food awards event dedicated to honoring and celebrating the local food industry. The Golden Foodie Awards will harness the collective power of the entire community of professionals in each area to recognize local excellence in the industry. We will encourage culinary tourism, support local chefs and restaurants, bring innovative culinary trends to local foodies and inspire the cooking of fabulous fare at home!”

336 is producing several video packages that will play at the awards show. We’ve been working closely with Pamela Waitt, creator of the Golden Foodie Awards and president of the OC Restaurant Association, and the rest of the GFA team to produce videos that will entertain and engage the audience. Our video production team filmed at some of OC’s top restaurants, including Javier’s, Tamarind of London, French 75, Savannah Chop House, The Playground, Anaheim White House, The Winery and Blue Water Grill. It was the most-mouth watering shoot we’ve ever had! Thankfully, we were able to taste some of the incredible food they made for the shoot. We’ll also be filming the red carpet arrivals, behind-the-scenes of the ceremony, commentary from the winners in the green room and of course, the GFA all-star after party.

We encourage you to log on to www.goldenfoodieawards.com to learn more about this unique Orange County event and check out the nominees of the 30 categories.

336 Productions Wins a Telly Award

This year marked the 33rd annual Telly Awards, and we’re proud to announce that we won an award in the category of Film/Video: Non-Broadcast Productions for our work on a video for SAPreflecting the benefits of their company’s business communications management (BCM) software.  Our corporate video production was selected out of more than 12,000 submissions from all 50 states and several foreign countries.

Watch as Russell and Joe separately try to book their annual golfing trips, and note how a positive customer service experience impacts the enjoyment of the trip.  We oversaw the B2B video from concept to completion. SAP is currently using the video for internal corporate purposes, online marketing campaigns, and customer facing meetings.  Tony Fassette, Global Vice President of SAP BCM sent us this testimonial about his experience with us, and impact the video is having:

[blockquote_message]Hello 336 Productions, I wanted to follow up to once again thank you for putting together a fantastic video and to give you some updates. As you know, we were looking to produce an engaging video to share our product’s unique selling points with our prospects and customers. The video you produced exceeded our expectations and is delivering strong results. We use the video to lead off all customer facing meetings (trade shows, events, etc.). This not only helps quickly highlight our unique selling point, but it also sets the tone for open and engaging dialogue. For sure the tone comes from the smart, tasteful humor that you made part of the video. We also use the video for our viral marketing campaigns. It can be seen on our SAP CRM Youtube channel, (Customer Service: A Tale of Two Cities). I appreciate your collaboration, professionalism and guidance throughout the project. Your team is extremely talented and easy to work with and I am convinced that the success of the video lies solely with your unique ability to see and deliver the big picture. I look forward to an opportunity to collaborate on a new video in the future.[/blockquote_message]

At 336 Productions, we strive to take a product or brand’s special qualities, and highlight them using our creativity and high quality video productions. In addition, it’s critical to us that our videos make a lasting impact on our client’s audience.  We are happy that we were able to do that with the SAP video, and to top it off, to be honored with a Telly Award.  We like to think our Telly Award is a testament to our dedication to storytelling and top-notch digital video and commercial video production, and is a milestone in the growth and development of our company.

The Telly Awards were first produced in 1979, and are designed to celebrate achievements in local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films.

Producing Corporate Video For SAP

We first worked with SAP in 2009. It was then that we produced three promos for their BCM (Business Communication Management) software. The theme of the campaign was “Virtual Call Center.” The campaign was a success. SAP used the videos internally, to kick off meetings and seminars, and also to show customers, in person and on the web.

Our new video for SAP is entitled “Split Screen,” and like the first three videos we produced, it promotes BCM. The video tells the story of Russell and Joe. Two guys both trying to book the annual golf trip they take with their friends. One receives extremely poor customer service, while the other receives top notch service – SAP’s BCM.

We took the project from concept to completion. The video was shot at a residence in Rancho Santa Margarita, and at the Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point.
